Monster Hunter World: Where to find Warped Bone, Boulder Bone and Ancient Bone

The first smash-hit of 2018, Monster Hunter World has taken off in a big way. Its mix of vibrant fantasy and complex gameplay systems have struck a chord with gamers – especially at this slower time of the year for big releases. However, with so much going on it can be difficult and confusing to find everything you need to progress. To help out, we’ve researched some of the best methods to collect Monster Hunter World’s most sought after crafting materials. Here’s where to find Warped Bone, Boulder Bone and Ancient Bone in Monster Hunter World.

These materials are vital if you intend on crafting many of Monster Hunter World’s armor sets, so it’s important to keep stocked.

Rare bones are quite hard to find – especially compared to monster parts – because you can’t get them by focusing on specific monsters like poison sacs with Pukei-Pukei in the Ancient Forest.

Where to find Warped Bone in the Rotten Vale:

You can find Warped Bones as rare drops from bone pile nodes in the Rotten Vale.

You can find bone piles in areas 1, 2, 4 and 5 of the Rotten Vale, but the best place to farm them is using the four piles in areas 2 and 4. Head north of the Northern camp in area 2 for the first piles, then head south down the path to the clearing in area 4 – there’re another two at the southern end.

Bone piles respawn after a certain amount of time, so if you don’t get what you need straight away, you can just run back, wait until they refresh and try again.

If you’d prefer not to wait, you can fast travel out of an area, then straight back to it to reset the nodes.

Where to find Boulder Bone in the Wildspire Waste:

Boulder Bones are found in Monster Hunter World’s Wildspire Waste.

In this map, there are bone piles in areas 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12.

There’s a great farming spot in area 5, with three piles located really closely together. Fast travel to the Southwestern Camp and head northeast. Go up the narrower pathway into area 5, and there should be two piles in front of you, with another a little further north. Harvest them, then fast-travel back to the Camp and repeat as many times as necessary.

Where to find Ancient Bone in the Ancient Forest:

Like the other two bone crafting materials, Ancient Bones can be looted from bone piles, as well as occasionally appearing as quest rewards. Ancient Bones appear in Monster Hunter World’s first area: the Ancient Forest.

You have two options to choose from when farming these nodes. You can either go between the bone pile on the beach in area 4 and the bone pile in the centre of the clearing in area 2. Or you can go between the three in areas 6, 7 and 8. The only issue here, is that a Rathalos tends to spawn in area 8, which could make collecting the bones unimpeded difficult.

Either way, move between each pile, then wait for them to refresh or fast-travel to and from the area.

There’s so much to see and do in Monster Hunter World, including a number of special crossover quests that give out materials you can’t get anywhere else. Check out the Aloy and Watcher armor set from the Horizon Zero Dawn crossover, as well as how to get the USJ Azure Star items from outside of Japan.

We’re also putting together a list of every large monster in Monster Hunter World, detailing their strengths, weaknesses and drops with regular updates as we uncover more info.
