Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is official, releases on October 12

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is official.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 was was made official today on Twitter.

As you can see in the tweet above, the game will see a full reveal on May 17 and will be released on October 12.

This confirms the growing evidence pointing to a new entry in the Black Ops series.

Yesterday, a clip showing Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden was posted online, and the logo on the cap he was wearing looked similar to the Black Ops 3 logo.

Unlike the “III” for Blops 3 though, the logo on the hat was “IIII”, which is a variation of the roman numeral four.

He’s also decked out in camouflage patterned clothing, and at one point, was wearing a headset which looked very similar to a Turtle Beach product – a company which has a peripheral partnership with Activision.

Those last two points may be a stretch on our part, but it’s possible.

Even earlier this week, an image said to be of GameStop’s database was posted online, showing Black Ops 4 merchandise in the system. T-shirts and lanyards, and promotional items were listed.

Back in February, industry insider Marcus Sellars said Black Ops 4  was a ‘boots on the ground’ shooter and would release on Nintendo Switch alongside the usual platforms. The port is said to be in the works with a studio “familiar with COD games.”

And finally, during Activision Blizzard’s Q4 call to investors, company CEO Eric Hirshberg confirmed Treyarch was developing the next Call of Duty. After Hirshberg’s comment, Treyarch tweeted it was “looking forward to the year ahead,” and “couldn’t wait to share more.”

So, when can we expect a full announcement on the next Call of Duty game? Probably sometime around the end of April or May.

Call of Duty: WW2 was officially announced on April 21, 2017 and the reveal trailer was released the following week.

In 2016, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was first teased on April 30, and the reveal trailer arrived on May 2.

Going by previous history, unless Activision and Treyarch pull a fast one and change the schedule, we have at least another month of waiting.
