The names of the big industry executives attending today’s meeting with Trump on video game violence have been revealed.
After the ESA confirmed earlier this week that it’ll be meeting with US president Trump over violent video games, we now know which members will be attending.
Though an official list of attendees was not published by the White House, The Washington Post revealed through sources familiar with the meeting some of these names.
The meeting, which takes place today, will pit industry executives against some of those with a history of being against the medium. Confirmed names so far include Robert Altman, CEO of Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, and Michael Gallagher, chief of the ESA.
They will be discussing whether violent video games could be linked to real-world violence with Brent Bozell, founder of the Parents Television Council and conservative Catholic activist, and Republican Missouri representative Vicky Hartzler.
“This meeting will be the first of many with industry leaders to discuss this important issue,” a White House spokesperson said.
For its part, the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) said that it won’t be “used as a scapegoat.”
1/ Let's be blunt on video games and gun violence-we will not be used as a scapegoat. The facts are very clear-no study has shown a causal relationship between playing video games and gun violence.
