Overwatch’s next Uprising event may not be a retread of King’s Row after all.
Overwatch has already announced the return of Uprising, a limited-time co-op event highlighting the backstory of Overwatch’s world. So far, the only thing Blizzard has confirmed is that Uprising will be our second opportunity to play the popular King’s Row mission. That said, a new trailer suggests Blizzard may have a lot more in store for us.
The trailer opens as a computer accesses “Archives File 0382”. What follows is a step-by-step retread of last year’s Uprising event – a story mission starring Tracer, Mercy, Reinhardt, and Torbjörn, along with new skins and content for other Overwatch characters. It’s all quite exciting, but familiar if you played the King’s Row mission already.
Then the twist: As the video concludes, our attention is directed to “Archives File 0274”.
And… that’s it.
Blizzard clearly wants to generate some buzz and excitement for the next Uprising event, and speculation is already running rampant. The Archive File number suggests this new mission will take place before the King’s Row attack, perhaps as other heroes face down the Omnic threat. The good news is we can likely expect further Uprising trailers in the coming weeks with more details.
Overwatch’s second Uprising event will run from April 10-30.
