Worldwide sales of Resident Evil 7 have reached 5.1 million units.
Capcom shared the news in a press release, where the publisher also announced its first-person horror game received the award for Best VR Audio at the 2018 Game Audio Network Guild Awards.
Resident Evil 5 is still the top selling game in Capcom's popular horror franchise with a total of 7.2 million units sold.
Resident Evil 7 was released in January of last year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. In December, a Gold Edition was released alongside its story-based add-ons Not a Hero and End of Zoe. Read IGN's Resident Evil 7 review for our thoughts on why it's one of the 18 best horror games of 2017.
