Fortnite is now down for maintenance as the game goes offline to prepare for the launch of Season 4.
Today’s the day we brace for impact – a comet is expected to hit the Fortnite map, kicking off Season 4 and shaking up the landscape.
Players are expecting a few familiar locations to take a hit from the skies, changing them significantly. It’s also the day we get a first look at the new theme and skins for Fortnite Season 4, with all teaser art pointing to a superhero theme.
Fortnite will be offline from 4am ET / 8am GMT with no update yet on when it will come back online. Previous downtime has lasted anywhere from 90 minutes to 6 hours or more, with big updates usually requiring Epic Games to stagger access to the game as the servers groan under the weight of excitable players.
Impact is imminent! Downtime for the Season 4 update is scheduled for tomorrow, May 1 at 4:00am Eastern Time (08:00 GMT).

Season 4 Weekly Challenges should kick off this week too, like on Thursday in line with previous scheduled updates, again at 4am ET / 8am GMT.
We’ll update this throughout the day as we get more info from Epic.
