Monster Hunter World Iceborne brings new zone, new and returning monsters

Capcom has just announced the first big expansion for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

Monster Hunter World’s Icborne is due for release in fall 2019, and it’s exactly what fans have been asking for. The expansion will expand the game’s world with a new snow environment.

This also means we’ll be going against new and returning monsters. During the presentation, Capcom revealed that Iceborne will be introducing a new monster rank to the game, but didn’t specifically say whether that’ll be G Rank.

Veteran Monster Hunter players will be familiar with this ultra-high tier of difficultly. G Rank is a difficulty level above High Rank that yields unique rewards and feature bigger, and more challenging versions of existing monsters. G Rank monsters also feature new moves, mixups, hit harder, and are generally more interesting to fight compared to their Low, and High Rank counterparts.

You may remember players asking Capcom all year to bring G Rank to Monster Hunter World, and though today’s reveal doesn’t mention G Rank, it’s like what the developer has planned.

The news was part of a 15-minute pre-recorded presentation where producer Ryozo Tsujimoto brought the goods.
