Subnautica Below Zero guide: Where is the Cargo Rocket?

The follow-up to one of the breakthrough survival games of last year, Subnautica Below Zero is out now on Early Access, with developer Unknown Worlds hoping to repeat their success with the system. Like many games in the genre, Subnautica Below Zero doesn’t explicitly spell out everything you need to do, and we’ve seen that a few people are having trouble finding the Cargo Rocket.

Subnautica Below Zero is available on both Steam and the new-look Epic Games store, being one of the first Early Access games to hit the latter.

Where is the Cargo Rocket in Subnautica Below Zero?

As you advance through the early story in Below Zero, you’ll start to gather resources from underwater flora and fauna, as well as minerals to craft useful tech.

Once you’ve crafted things like a Seaglider and upgraded O2 tank, you’ll advance enough to be given and objective on your HUD that directs you towards a Cargo Rocket.

Unlike other objectives you’ve been given so far though, when you go to that Cargo Rocket marker there’s nothing there. It’s slightly unclear, but this marker is only pointing you in the general direction of the Cargo Rocket.

From the shore that you arrive at you need to walk up the slope into the hills, then through the caves up and to the right towards an abandoned research base. A little past this research base is the rocket platform, where you can repair both the Cargo Rocket and the console that launches it with your Repair Tool.

Then once you’ve added your Bioscanner Sample, you can launch the Cargo Rocket!

For a clearer outline, we’ve embedded a video from YouTuber Paallikko, which shows you the exact path you need to take:

In other Epic Games Store news, it was announced last week that Metro Exodus – the latest in 4A Games’ series of post-apocalyptic Russian shooters – would be a timed exclusive for the fledgling storefront.

The decision proved controversial with both players and trade, as previous games in the Metro series were review bombed on Steam, and Koch Media parent company THQ Nordic released a statement distancing themselves from the decision.
