Jump Force: open beta times, roster, gameplay and more

It’s not long until Jump Force hits the shelves, so let’s take a look at everything we know about it so far.

Shonen Jump turned 50 last year, so what better way to celebrate than by releasing an all-star fighting game. Jump Force has been described as a mix between Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm and a traditional Dragon Ball Z game, for those not in the know.

The latest beta session was cut short due to server issues, though another session will be available on February 2.

Jump Force release date

Jump Force comes to the PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 15.

Jump Force pre-order

There are four versions of Jump Force available to pre-order:

  • Standard Edition
  • Deluxe Edition
  • Ultimate Edition
  • Collector’s Edition

The Standard Edition is just the base game, and the Deluxe Edition comes with a lobby Avatar, two T-shirts for your Avatar and a lobby vehicle.

The Ultimate Edition includes three costumes for your Avatar and a new lobby vehicle, Character Pass, Exclusive Jump Start DLC with 16 Avatar t-shirts and access to the game three days early.

The Collector’s Edition comes with an exclusive diorama, three artboards, a steel book, lobby vehicle and three Avatar costumes.

Jump Force open beta

The Jump Force open beta begins on February 2 from 3 pm GMT/ 10 am ET/ 7 am PT, until 8 pm GMT/ 3 pm ET/ 12 pm PT.

Jump Force roster

The Jump Force roster is full of fan favourites from the likes of Dragon Ball Z, One Piece and Hunter X Hunter to name a few. James compiled the full Jump Force roster list for us, plus a few fan theories about who might show up on release and in future content.

Jump Force gameplay

You’ll create a team of three characters to face off against another team. Teammates can be called in to activate certain special moves, or swapped with your current fighter mid-fight.

All three characters on your team share the same life bar, so if you decide to swap out to one of your other fighters, you won’t regenerate any more health.

You’ll be able to fight against stunning 3D backdrops set in the likes of Times Square, as Shonen Jump is set in our world, so to speak.

You can also build your own fighter from scratch using a variety of aesthetic options, then assign moves from the other characters to a unique character. Or, you can stick with characters you know and love – the choice is yours.

Jump Force Awakening

Aside from supers and special moves, you’ll be able to Awaken various characters such as the Super Saiyan Blue versions of Goku and Vegeta.

In order to use the power move, the Awaken gauge under your character’s portrait must be at least 50% full. When activated, the powerful move will only last for a limited time, but the appearance will stay the entire match.
Some characters even have an Ultimate Awakening which allows them to transform twice.

In the video from Arekkz, you can see Goku’s Awakening into his Super Saiyan form, before transforming into Super Saiyan Blue with the ultimate.

Jump Force special, super and ultimate moves

Each character on the roster will have signature special, super and ultimate moves which, as you would expect, are absolutely wild to watch. Arekkz’ video showcases some of the best of the bunch, including Pegasus Rolling Crush, Sagitarrius Arrow, Tailed Beast Bomb alongside some Super Saiyan fun.
