Sony Says the PS5 Can Do Ray Tracing, Here's What That Means

Some of the first concrete details regarding the next-gen PlayStation (we're just going to call it the PS5) were revealed yesterday, and in that reveal "ray tracing" was specifically called out as a feature that the new GPU could handle. So what is ray tracing? We hope the article below illuminates (ha!) this technology a bit for you. 

Nvidia’s new RTX line of graphics cards is coming soon, and this time around they’re offering more than just the typical performance boost over the previous generation. The RTX series GPUs are the first consumer GPUs that are capable of performing real-time ray tracing, which is a pretty awesome advancement in 3D graphics as it will, in theory, allow games to look more realistic than ever before.
