It seems a new Crysis announcement could be just over the horizon.
Today the official Twitter account for Crysis woken up after nearly four years of inactivity, offering a single mysterious tweet: “RECEIVING DATA“.
RECEIVING DATA

So, er. What does it mean? Is a new Crysis underway, or – perhaps more likely – a remaster? Did Crytek staff sit on their keyboard?
It is worth noting, there have been other recent teases hinting at some resurgence of the Crysis franchise. Just a few weeks ago, the official Crysis website received an update which shows Nomad, the original Crysis protagonist, on board what appears to be the same plane which starts off Crysis 1. While source code for the site’s update includes an “April Fool” tag, it seems like this could be more than just a gag.
Similarly, a video released last month showcasing the CryEngine’s “games of the decade” curiously included a few seconds of footage from Crysis 1 – a game that not only isn’t of this decade, but appeared to include lighting effects and features not available in the original PC release.
Crytek had also previously teased a modernised Crysis 1 last year with the release of a trailer for its CryEngine 5.6, which ended on an island environment that looked fresh but very familiar.
No official word as of yet, but keep your ears to the ground, folks.
