Metacritic delays user reviews in effort to tackle review bombing

Reviews aggregate site Metacritic is delaying user reviews for 36 hours after a game has been released.

The move comes as an attempt to slow down review bombing of popular games, whereby new releases are hit with low scores as a protest by entitled idiots.

“We recently implemented the 36 hour waiting period for all user reviews in our games section to ensure our gamers have time to play these games before writing their reviews,” Metacritic told GameSpot.

“This new waiting period for user reviews has been rolled out across Metacritic’s Games section and was based on data-driven research and with the input of critics and industry experts.”

The most recent high profile game to get review bombed by gamers was The Last of Us Part 2, a great game that some people didn’t like because it made them have feelings.
