Doom Eternal’s The Ancient Gods DLC will be available as a standalone

The Ancient Gods, Part One is the first major story expansion for Doom Eternal, and it will be made available as a standalone download.

News of the standalone nature of the Doom Eternal DLC was shared with PCgamesN.

Speaking with the site, the game’s executive producer Marty Stratton said the team at id Software wanted the DLC to “reach as many people as possible.”

And it will be a rather large DLC, according to game director Hugo Martin.

“Most people would associate DLC with being of smaller scope – it’s kind of like the made for TV version of the movie, and the movie was the main game,” Hugo said. “For us, this is very much like a two-part film – this is every bit as grand as the main game was.”

The Ancient Gods, Part One was announced during gamescom Opening Night Live, and is the first major story expansion for the game.

It is included in the Doom Eternal Year One Pass which comes with access to both DLCs and will run you £25/€30/$30. The Ancient Gods, Part One can be purchased by itself for £15.99 or regional equivalent.

The DLC will be made available on October 20.

You will also be able to pick up Doom Eternal for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Players who own or purchase either title on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade for free to the next-gen versions when available.
