Watch Teardown’s impressive sandbox destruction in new trailer

Teardown easily had one of the best reveals on Opening Night Live.

Gamescom 2020 Opening Night Live was full of new trailers for upcoming indie games, but few were as impressive as Tuxedo Labs’ Teardown.

Teardown is a voxel-based first-person heist game, but its biggest selling points is its completely destructible sandbox environment. The voxels the make up buildings, vehicles and most objects are all physically simulated, and they can all be torn to pieces.

Tuxedo Labs brought a fairly lengthy gameplay trailer to Opening Night Live, showing the ingenuity the game’s interactive sandbox allows for. It starts out pretty simple, with the player using explosives to create openings, and running vehicles through walls. By the end, we see more intricate problem solving like using planks and breaking through glass to create more efficient routes.

What’s really great to see here is how precise the destruction engine is, which allows for this micro-level of mayhem, a rare sight indeed in games. Anyway, Teardown is coming to Steam Early Access sometime this year. Watch the new trailer below.
