More PlayStation exclusives are coming to PC, starting with Days Gone this spring

Horizon Zero Dawn was just the start, as Sony has revealed that more PlayStation exclusives are on the way to PC.

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan has revealed in a GQ interview that more of the console’s first-party exclusives will make their way onto PC, starting with Days Gone sometime this spring.

Sony’s seemingly sudden decision to bring more of its games on PC was first announced last with Horizon Zero Dawn, which launched to a myriad of issues Guerrilla Games continues to work on fixing.

Ryan explained to GQ that the decision to bring more PlayStation exclusives to PC was “fairly straightforward”, noting the appetite for the company’s first-party content on PC.

“We find ourselves now in early 2021 with our development studios and the games that they make in better shape than they’ve ever been before. Particularly from the latter half of the PS4 cycle our studios made some wonderful, great games,” said Ryan.

“There’s an opportunity to expose those great games to a wider audience and recognise the economics of game development, which are not always straightforward. The cost of making games goes up with each cycle, as the calibre of the IP has improved. Also, our ease of making it available to non-console owners has grown.”

As for the Horizon Zero Dawn launch, Ryan said there wasn’t a “massive adverse reaction” from PlayStation fans to seeing the game on PC, and it seems to have done well there, though Ryan didn’t offer any specifics.
