Respawn and EA are celebrating a huge milestone for Apex Legends: the free-to-play battle royale game has surpassed 100 million players.
If there was any doubt about the popularity of Respawn’s well-supported FPS battle royale, that’s disappeared now. In a tweet, the official Apex Legends account celebrated the massive milestone with a short and sweet video, thanking the community for supporting the game.
If you’re quick, you can spot a few new hints about what’s coming in the brief trailer, embedded below, too: at about 43 seconds in, you can see a mysterious character flying into the air as Mirage says (in a very Mirage way) “somebody got the party started.” It’s unclear who – or what – this character is, but it stands to reason that it’s a new addition to the ever-growing Apex Legends roster.

As for what else we can expect in Season 9, a dataminer recently suggested Titans coming to Apex Legends alongside a new character, which is in line with some comments from the core team at Respawn, too. Lifeline is also liable to get a slight rework.
The video seems to suggest we’re going to hear more about the game’s upcoming plans on April 19.
This record player number comes just a couple of months after we saw Apex Legends enjoy 198,000 concurrent players on Steam, which isn’t a bad number considering the game originally launched back in 2019 and only arrived on Valve’s storefront in November 5, 2020.
