CD Projekt Red estimates over $562 million revenue for 2020, despite Cyberpunk 2077’s troubled launch

CD Projekt Red

Ahead of a full breakdown of its revenue being released in a financial summary on April 22, CD Projekt Red has announced its estimated income for 2020.

The company, posting an image to its IL Twitter account, seems to be estimating a sales revenue of 2.139 billion PLN, with net profit coming in around 1.154 billion PLN (thanks, Gamasutra).

If you convert that to dollars, you’re looking at an estimated revenue of  $562 million for CD Projekt Red in 2020, with about $303 million in profit for the financial year. Not bad, considering the issues that have dogged Cyberpunk 2077 since launch.

You can expect to see the full breakdown of the company’s financials later this week.

It’s worth bearing in mind that the figure shared here includes all the money CD Projekt Red has taken – it’s not just Cyberpunk 2077 sales (though it’s safe to assume a big portion of it is).

Cyberpunk 2077 was plagued with glitches and almost unplayable on Xbox One and PS4 at launch, and at the time of writing, the PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077 is still delisted from the PlayStation Store.

It’s safe to assume a lot of the money earned over the past financial year will be put towards CD Projekt Red’s mysterious other projects. At the end of March, the company announced that it intends to kick off development of multiple AAA games starting in 2022.

The company may also siphon some of that money back into the Cyberpunk 2077 team, fuelling the development of the game’s multiplayer mode – the future of which remains uncertain.
