Devolver Digital Direct: Everything Announced, Including a New Game from the Pony Island Dev - Summer of Gaming

As is tradition, with E3 2021 kicking off, Devolver Digital has also made an appearance, with another of its own conference parodies. Say hello to the definitely-real Devolver MaxPass+ – "a completely free subscription service that offers the entire Devolver Digital catalog - including all future titles - as exclusive, premium purchases." No NFTs here, just superfluous subscription passes, monetizing your monetization.

But among the jokes, we also got a bunch of new games to look forward to. Devolver showed off eight of its forthcoming titles, expected to launch this year and next. We’ve rounded up all of the new reveals in one handy place:

Trek to Yomi Revealed, Launching in 2022

A young swordsman has vowed to protect his town and those he loves against all to his late master. In a tragic tale and of his bonds of duty, he must voyage beyond life and death to find his future. Expect it on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC in 2022.

Embark on a magical journey with your friends into the wilderness to collect, craft, and customize your wizard for your adventure into the unknown. Craft carefully, though, as your magic may become too powerful for you to control.

Inscryption is a Card-Playing Horror from the Pony Island Creator

From the developer behind Pony Island and The Hex comes this bizarre and brilliant-looking card-based odyssey, blending roguelike and escape-room-esque puzzles with psychological horror. We saw the game for the first time last year, but as a newly-minted Devolver title, it comes to PC later this year.

Get more Devolver with Devolver Tumble Time

In case you didn’t have enough Devolver in this showcase, get ready to bring the publisher to your phone, unironically. This physics-based puzzle mobile game features characters from the entire Devolver library and will be completely free to play later this year. Well, sort of.

From the developers of Gato Roboto, Doinksoft, comes an all-new title, that you can only get if you buy the physical box set: Demon Throttle. Death’s Door Release Date Announced

This indie darling was first shown at the Day of the Devs’ showcase. In this world, crows collect the souls of the dead. You’ll play as one of these crows, doing monotonous, but honest work, until your soul ends up getting stolen and must follow the thief into a world where death does not lie in wait. It will launch on July 20 for Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One and PC.

Phantom Abyss Coming to Early Access

We got a sneak peek of this temple-crawler this past May. This massive multiplayer game which throws players into procedurally generated temples to retrieve sacred relics--but of course, the catch is there are deadly traps, chasms, and guardians waiting to overwhelm them. Oh, and did we mention, you can only run each temple once? Ever?

Shadow Warrior 3 Back with More Razor-Sharp Combat This Year

Ryan McCaffrey recently spoke with Kuba Opoń, the director behind Shadow Warriors 3, and how Shadow Warrior came to be rebooted. The FPS series beloved for its delightfully gory, fast-paced gunplay, wickedly precise melee, and free-running movement returns later this year for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
