Apex Legends: Emergence - Seer Ability Details, Ranked Arenas, and Weapon Changes Explained

Apex Legends Season 10 Emergence is releasing soon on August 3, 2021, and it's bringing a lot of changes to the Apex Games. There have been in-game teasers for weeks leading up to Respawn's reveal trailer showcasing the new Legend Seer and new map changes to World's Edge. While patch notes aren’t currently available for the new season yet, we do have a rundown of the most important changes available in this update.

Here’s what we know so far.

New Legend Seer's Kit

First and foremost, everyone is asking about the new Legend Seer. The new Legend was officially revealed as the next contestant to enter the Apex Games in a trailer that aired on July 19th. In the most recent Emergence trailer, we got to see a bit of Seer’s Legend kit in action. We don’t have the complete details but here’s what we know of Seer’s kit so far:

Passive (Heartseeker): Allows Seer to visualize locations of enemies and hear heartbeats in the area when nearby. Seer can pick up on where enemies are without revealing his location. When he aims-down-sights in weapons, Seer will be able to hear the heartbeat of his enemies.

Tactical (Focus of Attention): Sends out Seer’s microdrones that will scan and collapse on enemies and interrupt whatever the enemy’s actions are at the time. For example, if an enemy is using a healing item, Seer’s Tactical will interrupt the heal and the enemy will have to start it again. The Focus of Attention will also allow Seer and his teammates to see the marked enemy’s health bar, making Seer the first Legend to reveal such important information. This scan will last 8 seconds.

Ultimate (Exhibit): Deploys a sphere of microdrones that detects enemies within it who are firing weapons or moving quickly in the dome. If you crouch-walk inside the dome you will not be detected, but you can also shoot the heart chamber that deploys the Ultimate and get rid of it (think Horizon’s Black Hole which can be destroyed). Enemies detected in the dome will be revealed to Seer and his teammates.

Seer directly competes with Bloodhound’s kit and, depending on what we see with the patch notes, Seer may be a stronger pick than Bloodhound for the next season. Being able to give teammates information about where enemies are, interrupting their actions, all while not revealing Seer’s own location is incredibly valuable and less risky than a Bloodhound scan.

Additional Legend Changes

Other major Legend changes for the next season include an added sound effect in Revenant’s ultimate. When the ultimate timer is about to run out on someone in shadow form, there will be an added sound that alerts that player and anyone around them that they’re about to revert back to normal form.

Horizon’s kit has been adjusted to combat the severe nerf she was given two seasons ago. Fuse’s Knuckle Cluster duration has been doubled and his ultimate now highlights enemies caught in the fiery circle of his Ultimate since it was impossible to see in or out of the ring of fire before. This new buff will also reveal enemies that are inside a building that’s inside the ring of Fuse’s Ultimate.

Finally, Caustic’s gas damage has been altered yet again. In the next update, Caustic’s gas will no longer tick at a standard 5 damage rate. Instead, it will ramp up the damage every other second starting at 5 then 6, and so on. Caustic’s ultimate has also had 5 seconds taken off the recharge time.

Weapon Changes

There’s a new weapon being added to Apex’s arsenal: the Rampage LMG. This is the first weapon that Rampart has built from the ground up and is incredibly unique in operation. The Rampage is a heavy ammo LMG that has a slower rate of fire and is more optimized for medium to long-range fights. However, you can charge the Rampage by using a thermite grenade. This has a slight charge time before it becomes "revved up” which increases its fire rate making it much more viable at close range.

The mag on the Rampage does not hold as much ammo as the Spitfire but it holds enough to be used comfortably in medium-range fights. Speaking of the Spitfire, it’s now been taken off the ground loot pool and crated in Care Package weapons. It’s been reverted to pre-nerf Spitfire state (from before Season Legacy). In turn, the Prowler is back on the ground loot pool but it can only be used in its burst fire state with no auto fire mode. The Alternator was also crated and will now drop in Care Packages with Disruptor rounds (Hop Up that deals extra damage against shields), something we haven’t seen since Season 3.

The Anvil Receiver and Quickdraw Hop Ups are being removed from the loot pool and pistols will receive some of the benefits Quickdraw used to give. There’s a new Hop Up called the Boosted Loader that can be used on the Hemlock and Wingman. When you have the Boosted Loader equipped and your gun is almost empty, if you time the reload right you can get a faster reload and also an overloaded ammo clip granting you bonus ammo.

There’ll be a visual indication on when you need to reload to maintain that momentum so it’ll all be about timing if you use that Hop Up. Other weapon changes include the L-Star finally being able to utilize barrels and mags (which will allow the L-Star to fire longer without overheating and will coll down even faster). The EVA-8, which has been ruling as the shotgun meta for Season Legacy, will have a fire rate nerf with bolts at every level. Gun stocks will now determine faster reload speeds at each level and the 30-30 Repeater and G7 will now use Sniper Stocks.

Ranked Arenas

Arenas will also reflect all the weapon changes, so players will be able to buy the Prowler to use in matches or pick up the Spitfire in care package drops. Arenas will also implement a separate Ranked mode where you can try your hand at fighting against equally matched players.

This Ranking system will be completely separate from the Battle Royale system (but have the same Ranks such as Bronze through Predator) and a new MMR will be set. In Ranked Arenas, you’ll play 10 placement matches which determine your initial MMR and your starting rank. From there you can move through the ranks. There will be no Rank cost to enter an Arena Ranked match but in this mode, unlike Battle Royale, you will not have demotion protection. So you can de-rank from say Platinum IV to Gold I if you lose enough points. There will not be a season split for Arenas and your rank will only reset at the beginning of a new season.

World's Edge Map Changes

Finally, speaking of Battle Royale, World’s Edge is getting a massive makeover for Emergence since the Harvester fractured more of the planet and Hammond is now rushing to bandage the damage done. Sorting Factory, Refinery, and Train Yard have been replaced by bigger points of interest that add healthier rotations to the map, and moving Gondolas have been added to the map locations to bring back dynamic gameplay. There were a few new rotations made to open up the northern section of the map, giving more options for movement through Geyser and Overlook. And players can rejoice again since World’s Edge map changes also bring back blue skies.

We’re still waiting to see the official patch notes for Season Emergence but it looks to be bringing a lot of changes to Apex. How do you feel about Seer? Do you feel like he might be too strong at launch? Let us know! We’ll be sure to keep you up to date on Apex Legends as the new seasons approaches so be sure to check back here as August 3rd closes in.
