We still know very little about Battlefield 2042's Hazard Zone mode, but new details appear to have leaked courtesy of a dataminer on Twitter. The leak comes from temporyal, an account known for datamining the Battlefield series. In a series of tweets, temporyal shares details on what you can expect from the new Hazard Mode, noting that it is "a mix between Escape from Tarkov & Hunt: Showdown."
Hazard Zone seems to be indeed a mix between Escape from Tarkov & Hunt Showdown.

The 🚀 "Orbital" map in #Battlefield 2042 has built-in support for this game mode. Other known locations can't be verified without additional data. No sign of a Hazard Zone exclusive map available. pic.twitter.com/C1imZe2Hdi
To give a better gist of what two games Hazard Zone is being compared to, Escape From Tarkov is a first-person shooter where players partake in raids and fight against other players (and AI enemies) to obtain loot and escape the map. Meanwhile, Hunt: Showdown has players collect bounties from slain monsters.
Additional tweets suggest that players can expect to collect intel from data drives and crashed satellites. It's also rumored to contain ammo stations and uplinks where you can call for Ranger the Robot Dog or an ADT.
You might encounter AI soldiers like a patrol using a Jaguar EBRC or HDT Storm in #Battlefield Hazard Zone.

According to some data, they can get reinforcements and parachute (solo or squads) into the map. AI "bosses" will probably serve as additional objectives & grant rewards. pic.twitter.com/5nLVB4nG6l
DICE has yet to detail Hazard Zone fully outside the fact it's squad-based and it will be "very different" compared to other game modes. It's currently holding an invite-only technical test, which started late last week, with an open beta slated for September.
With Battlefield 2042 slated to release on October 22, there's a chance DICE will share more information on the new mode ahead of release. In the meantime, check out our reactions to the new Portal mode right here.
